Electives
Seaford High School offers a diverse range of elective courses that provide students with unique opportunities to explore music through various mediums. These electives allow students to deepen their musical knowledge and skills beyond the traditional curriculum. Current offerings include Ukulele, Guitar, Music Theory, and Advanced Placement (AP) Music Theory.
In the Ukulele and Guitar courses, students will learn to play these popular instruments, gaining hands-on experience in both solo and group performances. The Music Theory course delves into the fundamentals of music, helping students understand the structure of music, including scales, chords, and rhythms, and how these elements come together in composition. For students looking for a more advanced challenge, AP Music Theory offers an in-depth study of music theory at a collegiate level, giving students the opportunity to earn college credit while developing a deeper understanding of music.
These electives not only provide students with the chance to enhance their technical abilities but also expand their musical horizons, encouraging creativity, self-expression, and a greater appreciation for music in its many forms.
